Koll Science Foundation

The mission of the Koll Science Foundation is to advance the synergetic progress of science and society. We are in the nascent stage, but we expect to fund proposals that advance scientific knowledge, education, and activities that benefit society.

Koll Science Foundation notes that gender, age and regional diversity is crucial for synergy between science and society.

Proposals under consideration:

  1. Research and documentation based on the data collected under the Meenachil River citizen science network.
The Meenachil River campaign in Kerala has started using rain gauges and water level scales to monitor and alert the local community regarding the changes observed in the river-based environment, particularly floods and droughts. They plan to augment their rain gauge – water level scale network to 1000 stations across the 78 km long river. It is important that the implementation, monitoring, data collection, and evaluation is executed via a scientific approach. The data collected should be open access—and the local educational institutions have an opportunity in analyzing the data and using it for understanding the water, weather, and climate variability in the region. The entire activity can be documented as a “best practice” or a model for river basins and regions across India and the globe. Koll Science Foundation looks forward to working closely with the Meenachil River team.
