Do they feed on algae? Will they eat up the algae in a fish pond if we introduce them to it?
Yes they feed on algae, but are not a solution if you have heavy algae blooms.

This species is not kallemutti, on our area this one known as മെഴുപരൽ, its very tasty.

Yes, for me too! We try not to miss a chance to jump into the rivers when we visit our native. Especially with the kid, we want him to relish and go through the wonderful, nature-filled life we all had a few decades before.
